To facilitate the full integration of international students, B1 Spanish level is generally recommended, unless some other specific level is required for a special programme.
At the beginning of each Semester -October and March- an intensive course of 40 hours of Spanish is offered to International students by the Language Center at the University of Almeria.
Follow this link to get more information about this course and to complete the process of enrolment.
The International Relations Office also offers the ISEP SUMMER ABROAD PROGRAMME which is held annually from 1st to 30th July. This is a one-month course devoted to cultural and language immersion in Spanish. More detailed information about this programme can be found here:
If you only speak English, you will not be fully satisfied and delighted during your stay in Spain. Moreover, if you really want to get to know the local people better and fully enjoy Spanish culture and customs, you need to speak Spanish. For example, simple things such as reading signs, menus or asking for directions require some knowledge of the language. For this reason and for your own benefit, it’s advisable that you speak Spanish at least at a basic level.
Language Centre of the University of Almeria gives you a great opportunity to learn Spanish at all levels or if you are good at Spanish to improve your level and competences. The centre provides a wide range of Spanish courses: short, intensive, annual Spanish for foreigners’ courses, DELE preparatory courses, etc. The Centre also offers language courses for special purposes, such as business Spanish or Spanish language and culture course.
In addition to the Spanish language courses, the Centre offers many language courses that are seldom available at schools such as Russian, Chinese, Arabic, etc. Thus, the student can explore a new culture by beginning the study of a foreign language that they have never studied before.
Visit the website to see which languages are currently offered:
DELE (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language) is the official accreditation of the degree of fluency in the Spanish Language, issued and recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
Instituto Cervantes is the institution in charge of organising the official exams of Spanish (DELE) but the exams take place at the Language Centre.
