Research and economic environment
The research work of the University of Almeria is closely related to its financial environment, focussing particularly on solar energy, agriculture and water management.
Research Groups
The different Research Groups of the University have succeded in implementing a large number of advances in sectors including agriculture, renewable energies. The entire list of services and advances of the groups is available in our R+D+i List.
UAL ranks third position in scientific production in Andalusia with more than 300 R+D+i Contracts signed with companies, a dozen of Patents obtained, around 700 books published and the publication of several annual journals.
In order to cater for the fulfilment of current research regulations, the University of Almeria has a Bioethics Commission regulating Animal Experimentation, Experimentation in Humans, and also Research with Generitacally Modified Organisms and Biological Agents.
Research Transference
If all the knowledge is to be really useful, it is necessary to be applicable to particular problems; said knowledge also needs to be transmitted. The University of Almeria is working hard in this direction.
In order to guarantee the Research Transference and its correct application to problems of our environment, the University has a Research Results Transfer Office (OTRI) and the Research Central Services, among other agencies.
