Primary education concerns the education process which extends from children age 6 to 12. Teaching leading to the degree in Teacher Training in Child Education should cover the principles established in the Constitution and offer training oriented to the development of the teaching activity at compulsory basic levels of the education system, offering all children an education which allows them to strengthen their personal development and their own well-being, acquire basic cultural abilities related to oral expression and comprehension, to reading, writing and calculating, as well as developing social abilities, work and study habits, artistic sense, creativity and affective behaviour.
After completing these studies, the graduates will have the following academic and professional opportunities:
Students who complete 60 credits of the "Basic Training" in the Grade will have these credits recognized (convalidated) for any other degree in Social and Legal Sciences.
Graduates can directly enter master studies like those offered by the University of Almeria:
Graduates from this degree can work as teachers in primary education both in public and in private centres, as well as working in other occupations related to child and teenage education in specialized centres attending children with disabilities and centres attending children in general. They can also take up open air activities for youth and adults organized by the public administration. In private companies, their most logical working opportunities focus on teaching centres and academies, without outruling the sports and cultural associations, cultural foundations, NGOs, training companies, publishing trusts, sociocultural animation companies, hospitals -for undertaking activities with children and the aged-, leisure centres and kindergardens, among others.
Within the field of self-employment, mention should be made of the sociocultural animation companies for children, youth and the aged, education counselling, as well as service companies offering activities for public and private agencies. They are trained to undertake their work in diverse settings outside the standard education system as well as with organizations for youth, adults or the aged; so other professional areas of growth which offer them access to work are the teaching cooperative companies, school farms, work fields or leasure companies.
