The master takes place over a period of one academic year. It begins with a general module (27 ECTS) which includes a group of subjects which are basic for the development of the following modules. It also offers methodological training related to data analysis and treatment. After completing this general module, there are two different itineraries.

The Professional-academic itinerary (33 ECTS) offers training required for a technician in water sustainable management, particularly in everything related to water quality and planning and management of hydric resources. In the optional module, students can study different subjects related to recharge, evaluation of environmental impact assessment in water ecosystems, sustainable use of water, and the water-landscape relation. Finally there is an End of Master Dissertation related to the external internship at a company.

The academic-research itineray (33 ECTS) is fundamentally oriented to beginning a research career related to water and environment. The compulsory module covers specific aspects related to Hydrogeology, Hydrochemistry and the Geographic Information Systems. The optional subjects cover different issues related to the use of the models, superficial-underground water dependence, water and global change, and the services of water ecosystems and human wellbeing. The research itinerary is focussed on completing a research work, which is undertaken at the research centres.
